Back on the Mic
I’ve started up a new adventure with my friend Katherine!
We are sharing life in the off season here on PEI.
It feels great to be back on the mic. Something you might not know about me is that I had a podcast with my friend Stephanie called Thriving Tides.
Stephanie had the idea for it when we were in the throes of covid and she was looking for a creative outlet to help her mental health. We all know that the pandemic was a struggle for everyone and we were really feeling it as entrepreneurs. The main focus of it was self care for entrepreneurs and I am still so proud of what we accomplished together.
We published 75 episodes (mostly in the comfort of Stephanie’s closet) and while they are no longer available on podcast streaming platforms you can watch some of the videos on YouTube. Check it out if you’re curious!
It’s been about 2 years since we packed up the mic’s so it’s been fun to brush off the dust and get things going again.
And instead of recording in the closet we are getting out in nature and sharing the beauty that is PEI in the off season. So far we’ve been sharing our adventures on instagram and eventually we plan to publish our work on some streaming platforms and will be building out a website as well.
You’ll see from the photos below that we are big fans of campfires, coffee and the ocean!
As a tourism operator, the off season can be a tricky time. From the outside it may seem like a dream to have the time off but if I’m being honest (and I always try to be here), the lack of structure can be very challenging for me.
I love that I have completely changed my career and am now a lobster fisher and tourism operator. But it’s a different way of life to complete the majority of my work over half the year, especially when I always expected to live the 9-5 life.
For me, not having a schedule or a place I have to be can feel like more of a curse than a blessing. I thrive on routine and I love the feeling of being productive. This is something I’ve been working on and having this new creative outlet is a great outlet for me. I’m excited to see where this goes and think that it can only lead to more exciting things.
So stay tuned for more adventures with me and Katherine! And if you have any curiosity about the off season in PEI that you’d like to learn more about please drop a comment below or send us a message.
Until next time…
